Course Description

Gynecologic cancer can be a devastating disease that either directly or indirectly affects nearly every person in our society. Recent discoveries and advances in treatment have changed our understanding of these cancers in terms of their biology and genetics. Armed with knowledge of the mechanisms of cancer growth and spread, new strategies for prevention and early detection have evolved. In addition, new types of cancer therapy have been developed to target gynecologic cancers more specifically and with fewer side effects. As a result, death rates for many of the gynecologic cancers are now falling. In this course you will receive up-to-date information on the current state of gynecologic cancer prevention, diagnosis and management. You will learn how advances in early detection and improved side effect profiles for novel treatments assist us not only in improving rates of cure but also in improving quality of life.
