Course Description

Protect yourself and your loved ones from danger! Common medications, herbal therapies, and household chemicals serve to make our lives healthier, more convenient, and attractive. However, when used incorrectly, either intentionally or inadvertently, these can become life-threatening poisons and toxins. Learn about the latest designer and adulterated street drugs, toxic land and marine creatures, common household ingestions, misbegotten uses of herbal medications, and the way that we use the laboratory to solve poisoning mysteries.

Taught by experts from Zuckerberg San Francisco General and the San Francisco Division of the California Poison Control System, this course will travel from the research bench to bedside and out to the San Francisco streets to learn about the recent advances and challenges that face these patients and the creative work by doctors to prevent, diagnose and treat these conditions.
